CobaltSuite

ALPHA 3

THIS APPLICATION IS STILL REQUIRES A LOT OF DEVELOPMENT

MAP OPENERS MIGHT NOT BE COMPATIBLE WITH COBALT V103a

Credits:

jflecool2 - providing Quick Launcher's logic and coding

Supports:

I do not accept donations, you can donate to the creators of CMR/CFD or buy your friends a copy of Cobalt each!

I would recommend all modders and map makers to use Cobalt File Database and Cobalt Mod Repository as their main maps and mods file hosting platform so as to make it compatible to this tool in future.

Known bugs:

- .map file extension reader does not work when CobaltSuite.exe is run on startup

DISCLAIMER: At any point of time, I would discontinue this project because it requires a huge amount of work. It might even take months to complete.

Features:

+ Quick Launch

- Web shortcuts

Planned features:

+ Quick Launch - launches the game without logging in

+ Map & Mod Catalogue - browse Cobalt File Database and Cobalt Mod Repository

+ DirectX Game Overlay Chat - a chat system that overlays the game and can be controlled with hotkey(s)

+ Diagnosis - little applet that scans your PC for possible issues causing Cobalt errors

+ Notification & Update Centre

Possible features:

+ ".cobalttool" file extension (can be opened with CobaltTool) - make things easier for mods and maps installation, but requires a lot of work

- Highscore system for custom maps (with anti-cheat) - might need CFD's help

So yeah, it does a huge load of awesomesauce.

Sorry for bumping this thread although there's no updates. I just wanted to say that I will be giving out some of my codes/functions for other AutoHotKey script writers to use. :)

EDIT: CobaltTool's development is currently undergoing major restructuring. I want to make my scripting easier and also make the user experience of CobaltTool magical by understanding a user's needs. I am also going to upload 2 function scripts to my DropMark Cobalt folder. The link can be seen in the first thead.

Next big update coming in a few days (or maybe hours) time:
- Ability to run .map files (if the user chooses to enable it) from anywhere and play the map on cobalt in dev mode
- Developer tool to make map/mod installing less of a hassle (can be integrated with other applications because its a command line utility that communicates with mods)

here's the screenshot of the GUI for the .map start thingy:

Sorry guys for taking so long to give the news of the next release, I wanted a clean framework which could be updated easily and could be beneficial to users of all sectors (players, mappers, modders). I didn't want to make things great for players but at the expense of having mappers spend too much time trying to figure out the tool.

Looking extremely hawt! I can't wait for this to be released - it will no doubts be the best Cobalt tool in existence. I can't wait for full release ^.^!

Do you have any contact with Krammeh? He hasn't been on for ages...

Also, any chance we get ingame CFD browsing and downloading :P? That's a huge request, but with Krammeh, BeNe, and Mr_TP, I bet you can do it!

Krammeh seems to be gone. Maybe because he's busy with work and stuff.

As for CFD browsing, there is 2 options:
1. Krammeh comes back and finishes up CFD's developer API so that I can start working on the catalogue
2. I spend another month or two working on a CFD site parser which is very very unideal. In other words, I have to design an AI that reads the webpage one by one and then split and filter the information. This means that a single small update on CFD could totally ruin the AI and have to be revised.

On a side note, I have stopped development for the Catalogue (for a while? idk). CMR is ready though, it has all its APIs ready, but I'll focus more on finishing up the non-API dependent parts of the tool. One more thing is that I am going nowhere with DirectX hooking and DirectDraw, so I might drop the in-game chat part of the tool.

edit: you know what, out of eagerness to release this, i'll finish up the developer tool later and upload what i've finished later

Updated to Alpha 2 (public release)

Refer to the installation spoiler for installation instructions. The next update might include an automated installation.
(I was too lazy to make the script edit registry entries)

Please help me test it out so that I can improve on it! :) Suggestions are welcome!

Finally got around to testing this. It's awesome!

There should be a welcome window the first time you open it. I didn't understand why nothing happened until I found out it just hid itself.

Also, there's a bug with resolution selection. It seems that it automatically selects your current resolution in the preferences, but it doesn't actually run the game in that resolution. Here are my exact steps I took:

Started CobaltSuite for the first time.
Went in Preferences, checked Fullscreen under Game.
Closed the window, selected Quick Launch.
The screen flickered briefly and nothing else happened.

I went in the preferences again, took off fullscreen. Launched, it started windowed but at the smallest resolution. Preferences, I clicked the correct resolution even though it was already chosen, checked fullscreen. Then it finally worked.

Also, just noticed I didn't put this in the Useful Threads Index. Duh! Adding now.

Thanks for testing it! If I didn't state clear enough, the .map file launcher can run maps instantly by opening the map file itself!

It seems that it automatically selects your current resolution in the preferences, but it doesn't actually run the game in that resolution.

Oh yes! I forgotten about first-time usage, it selects the item by default but it doesn't register the resolution. Silly me!

Added! Will come in the next update.

Thanks, again, for testing this out for me! :)
