Don't know if this has been actively addressed, but as the title suggests, adding more melee weapons to the game, and perhaps even the addition of a melee only game.
Just small weapons like knives, although swords and things would be nice too. And maybe even joke weapons

Yeah, I wast thinking a joke weapon would be a rubber chicken or something similar, statwise it'd be the same as, say a knife, but would look hilarious.

The Phaser is a pretty OP melee weapon. Play the deathmatch map, Secret Hideout, with all four teams each with atleast 1 player/bot and you will see how fun it is.

I see what you mean! I was thinking more along the lines of edged weapons, like swords, etc.

Haha, excellent. Also, perhaps you could get basic metal knives or whatever, but they do less damage, but more knockback, as opposed to laser weapons that are opposite.

And the ability to slash with something like a knife, plus throw them with effects such as if a player catches the knifes blade directly, its insta but otherwise it does little damage XP

a knife with a scope on it that has a higher range than other melee weapons.
a "rubber chicken" as others said that are for fun, non-lethal, "mock-battles."
a bit off topic but, a chainsaw that you throw.....think about it.
the swords can block each other if you attack at the same time as your enemy so you can't "slice and pray" to use the phrase loosely.
if 2 people punch each other at the same time then they both have to wait slightly longer to attack.
attacking with a sword, while rolling, in midair will cause you to hold out your sword and do a "spin slice" kinda like what kirby does.

This is a good idea. Especially for survival which needs some close range weapons.

I like these ideas, and most of them could fit Cobalt's theme and mechanics too. Although, I was thinking that the rubber chicken would basically be the same as a normal sword, except that it is a chicken instead, and it makes skwark sounds when you swing it or hit something.
